Design and design supervision services for the construction of the new cross-border project “Rail Baltica”, in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
The project runs along the corridor from Tallinn, through Pärnu, Rīga, Rīga International Airport, Panevėžys and Kaunas to the Lithuanian/Polish state border, with a connection between Kaunas and Vilnius. The new railway line is designed with a track gauge of 1,435 mm, according to all the requirements of the Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI). It will have maximum design speed of 249 km/h for passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight trains. IDOM is responsible for six sections, covering in total 393 km of double track. The projects include stations, tunnels and viaducts; one of which is the 1,700 m viaduct over the river Neris, making it the longest railway viaduct in the Baltic region.
