Design and design supervision services for the construction of the new cross-border project “Rail Baltica”. Sections: Pärnu–Rapla & Kaunas–Ramygala (Estonia & Lithuania, respectively)
The project runs along the corridor from Tallinn, through Pärnu, Rīga, Panevėžys and Kaunas to the Lithuanian-Polish border, with a connection between Kaunas and Vilnius. The new railway line will be designed with a track gauge of 1,435 mm, according to all the requirements of the Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI). It will have maximum design speed 249 km/h for passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight trains. IDOM is responsible for both these sections of the trans-European railway project, in total 150 km of double track, 17% of the entire line. The projects include four railway stations, tunnels and viaducts; one of which is the 1,700 m viaduct over the river Neris, making it the longest railway viaduct in the Baltic region.
