|Main products and services
Railway signalling and control technology: The company Siemens Mobility operates principally in the railway automation market. Our Mobility Management business unit offers integrated mobility solutions consisting of the cutting edge in railway signalling and automatic train control technologies – used in metros and commuter rail, freight and mining lines, as well as long-distance and high-speed railways.
Rolling stock: Siemens Mobility leads the international field in the development and supply of rolling stock, with a portfolio covering a comprehensive range of vehicles, including carriages, metro trains, locomotives, trams and light rail vehicles. A combination of knowledge and skills in freight, long-distance and local rail transport – not to mention extensive experience – enable Siemens Mobility to provide rail vehicles that are reliable, efficient and sustainable, and are operational in over 40 countries, Spain included.
Railway electrification: For over a century, Siemens’ Railway Electrification unit has led the way in the development of reliable, intelligent power supply systems for metro and conventional rail lines, solutions that are sustainable and respectful to the environment.
Its ample portfolio – developed with a multitude of international clients – includes products, systems and solutions for power transmission, distribution and transformation. These incorporate the latest generation of overhead lines and substations, including advanced control systems for power networks supplying the rail lines of metros, trams and high-speed trains. Siemens is also invested in new technological developments that will be part of the future of electrification, for example the eHighway and eBus solutions, and the range of Sicat energy efficiency equipment.
Maintenance services: The Customer Services business unit encompasses the maintenance services for railway electrification and signalling, as well as rolling stock maintenance through Nertus, a joint venture between Renfe and Siemens.

|Activities by year
Activity over the year: Railway signaling contracts won:
International contracts won: In 2019, Siemens Mobility was awarded with the contract to install advanced rail signaling and control technology on Medellín's Metro Line A (25.8-kilometre-long, 21-station) and the Patio de Bello, which serves the metro network. The scope includes the design, supply, implementation, assembly, testing, optimization, safety certification and commissioning of a ground signaling system, preserving existing on-board train equipment and considering its interfaces. Likewise, within the project, which has an execution period of three years, the latest generation Westrace MKII interlocks will be developed and installed, the existing LZB system will be modernized, the railway signals will be replaced by LED technology and the communications and energy installations will be adapted.
Commissioning: In 2019, Siemens Mobility commissioned the signaling and control system for the Marmaray project in Turkey, which connects Gebze in Asia and Halkali in Europe with commuter, subway and high-speed trains, as well as a freight link. In total 76 km of railway line already in operation. In a joint venture with OHL, Siemens Mobility has installed the signaling and control system, the communication systems as well as the SCADA system. Technologically unique, the line is equipped with ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) and CBTC (Communications Based Train Control System) systems. The advanced solution provided by Siemens Mobility Spain includes the ERTMS FUTUR technology already in service on the Ankara and Konya Turkish High-Speed Line, as well as the Trainguard system in service on the Downtown line of the Singapore Metro.
Railway electrification: In 2019, Siemens Mobility (in a joint venture with Acciona) was awarded, by Adif, the construction project (track and electrification) for the implementation of the standard width in the Mediterranean corridor, in the Sagunto-Castellón section. Siemens Mobility will carry out the electrification consisting of adapting the overhead contact line to the new standard track gauge. In addition, there will install a rigid catenary in the Cabañal tunnel. This is a double track section with a total length of approximately 65 km. The completion period will be 24 months.
Intermodal solutions: Siemens Mobility provide with other partners a unique and holistic ecosystem of digital services and solutions. From trip planning across passenger communication to mobile ticketing, payment and comprehensive Mobility as a Service (MaaS) solutions, fleet management to train planning systems and mobility data analytics, we share one common goal: enhancing the passenger experience – with our combined power for mobility.
Other activities: sale of traction drives and converters for different international projects from our factory in Cornellá.
