Products:

Sener combines its expert technical knowledge of the railway field with new data science and artificial intelligence technologies and with its innovation capabilities to develop solutions aimed at solving problems or needs of its clients in the construction, operation and maintenance of railway systems.

Among these solutions, the following can be highlighted:

- RESPIRA®: System for the optimization of ventilation and air conditioning management in metro networks, stations and other enclosed spaces, focused on improving thermal comfort, air quality and energy consumption. In service in five Barcelona metro lines, with very significant improvements in both energy savings and passenger comfort.

- ACROT: Advisory system for risk control in the operation of ACROT tunnel boring machines, based on the combination of a digital platform for data collection, processing, analysis and visualization in real time with the technical expertise of a dedicated team of specialists, a detailed and permanently updated procedures manual and a structured database with project history. The system has been successfully used in projects such as the first phase of the Oporto metro (Portugal), the Barcelona Sants-Sagrera high-speed railway line and line 3 of the Guadalajara metro (Mexico).

- Structural health monitoring system for railway bridges based on data analytics and the application of decision-making algorithms to predictively assess the future evolution of the structural condition of the structures, integrated with BIM models. Developed through a pre-commercial innovative public procurement contract with the Center for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI).

- Intelligent energy asset management system EMS: Real-time predictive and automatic control system for all the energy assets of a facility, optimizing the possible synergies between self-consumption generation, storage and energy demand, both electrical and thermal.

- Technical support to the SCT (Secretariat of Communications and Transport) throughout the tender and contracting process for the passenger train for the Toluca–Mexico City line’s commercial operation, as well as providing technical monitoring services during the first few months of the line's operational phase.
- Detailed design, technical support and project management during the construction phase of the passenger train for the Toluca–Mexico City line (Mexico).
- Development of the detailed designs for the railway connection between Dar es Salaam and Morogoro, for the Tanzania Central Corridor (TZCC), awarded by the Yapi-Merkezi/Mota-Engil consortium. This consists of a 205 km-long track with six stations, and the works include the preliminary and detailed design of the railway, the infrastructure - including 93 viaducts -, as well as the stations, maintenance workshops and depots. SENER will carry out this project in conjunction with the Danish consultancy firm COWI.
- HS2 EDP (Engineering Delivery Partner) contract for the line between London and Birmingham for High Speed Two (HS2) Limited, a government company responsible for the development and running of the new high-speed railway network in the United Kingdom.

Sener is a very involved player in the innovation ecosystem, having more than 80 patent families, of which more than 40 remain in force through almost 200 patents in different countries around the world.

Among the main innovation projects in which Sener is currently working in relation to railroads, the following can be highlighted:

- Hydrogen technology for use in rail mobility.
- Hyperloop: Participation in the Technical Committee for Standardization CTN 326 of AENOR.
- Assests4Rail: Project developed within the framework of the Shift2Rail program focused on the exploration, adaptation, and testing of innovative technologies for the monitoring and maintenance of railway assets.
- Nierbimo: Project developed in the framework of the HAZITEK program, aimed at developing digital twins of railway stations and depots to optimize their operation and maintenance and contribute to their transformation into near-zero energy consumption buildings (NZEB).
